Annual awards at Summer School 2021

After a year’s absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were delighted to be able to present our annual awards again at Summer School in Cambridge this August.

Huge congratulations go to Jenny Porter (pictured top left), who received the John Coates Memorial Baton from CEO and Head of Conductor Training, Manvinder Rattan, for making exceptional progress during her conducting course at Intermediate 2 level.

It will come as no surprise to those attending our courses that Ula Weber, our Head of Events, was awarded the James Wild Memorial Stand by Chair of Trustees Miles Wallis-Clarke, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the charity’s operations. Ula has risen in exemplary fashion to the challenges that the pandemic has brought since March 2020, managing our online webinars and training programmes and – more recently – ensuring the safety of all in-person training event participants through rigorous Covid-safe procedures followed at this summer’s venues. We are immensely indebted to her.

And there was – finally! – an opportunity for last year’s recipient of the Memorial Stand to have his photo taken, too; congratulations again to Nick Graham, our Head of Finance and Operations, for his dedicated work, including the successful launch and implementation of our new website.
