Bursaries and Scholarships

As part of our charitable remit we offer a number of different scholarships and bursaries, giving those who struggle to meet our course fees the opportunity to join us.

SfP Conductor Support Scheme (UPDATED AUGUST 2024)

Our bursary scheme for conducting courses

The SfP Conductor Support Scheme exists to help participants who find it difficult to meet the full cost of our course fees. We are the largest provider of choral conductor training in the country, and we are pleased to be able to offer a small number of bursaries to help attract and support our participants. Bursary allocations are both limited and highly competitive; indeed, we receive far more applications than we can currently support. We support applicants working in the following categories.

  1. Talent Development: young people up to the age of 26, supported by a referee
  2. Teachers/Education: those who work in the education sector who would like to develop singing in their schools, settings, hubs, choirs etc.
  3. Community: those who work within community or church settings
  4. Singing for Health: those practitioners who work in the field of Social Prescribing, health sector settings etc.

We will consider requests from new and previously successful applicants.

Young Conductors Scholarships

For promising musicians aged 18-25

In 2013 we launched a scholarship scheme in the shape of our Young Conductors Programme – a specially designed year-long programme for promising young musicians aged 18–25. The beneficiaries are offered fully funded attendance on a number of our courses, plus one to one mentoring and support to further develop their skills.

We are grateful to all our current members, who support the YC fund, enabling scholars to improve their skills and develop their work with choirs, building confidence, networks and aspiration to inspire and lead with excellence.

Sing for Pleasure is intent on broadening the representation of conductors and vocal leaders from ethnic minorities in the UK, and each year we aim to dedicate two scholarships to this comittment.

The application deadline for our 24-25 cohort is midnight on Saturday 5 October. Apply by clicking here.
