Interim Head of Conductor Training announced

Following the Trustees’ agreement to grant Manvinder Rattan a sabbatical while he settles in as Voices Foundation’s Chief Executive, the Management Team is pleased to announce that senior conducting tutor Imelda Shirley has been appointed Interim Head of Conductor Training. She will be supported in this role by fellow tutor and Trustee, Catherine Beddison.

Imelda’s association with Sing for Pleasure began back in 1984, and she has been leading our conductor training courses for 25 years. She has also been instrumental in the development and delivery of our Vocal Leadership Training Programmes (VLTPs), which are designed to run in partnership with music education hubs, music services and academy chains. As a result, Imelda brings a wealth of experience to the role, drawing too on her work as Assistant Head of Wigan Music Service and a wide range of choral leadership posts.

In addition, CEO Assistant Elliot Mercer’s brief has been extended within the Management Team and to reflect this, he is re-designated as SfP’s Executive Assistant. Interim CEO Stephen Gregson commented: “We are very grateful for the unstinting support that Elliot has given thus far, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role.”
