What We Do

SfP for Singers

Sing for Pleasure organises a number of day, weekend and week-long events for singers across the country and abroad, ranging from community choir showcases to Musicianship for Singers courses and 3-day choral courses at our annual Summer School. We also offer summer singing weeks for children.

At all our events, talented professional conductors help each choir to sing to the best of their abilities and really encourage the joy of choral singing. This enjoyment is key to improving personal skills and achieving impressive standards of performance. Our courses always include advice about personal vocal training and developing good choral habits. To see what events we have coming up, visit our events page.

Musicianship for Singers

Mirroring our conductor training programme, we offer graded learning for singers through our Musicianship for Singers programme. These courses are currently offered at weekend training events and Summer School, and are specifically designed to:

  • teach singers to read music and sight-sing, and boost their confidence in a range of choral settings
  • foster understanding of music theory from a singer’s, rather than an instrumentalist’s, viewpoint

Sessions are active and lively, and focus on the core skills of singing in tune, aural memory, internal hearing/the thinking voice, speed-reading notation, accurate intonation and singing with other voices in harmony. Visit our events page to find out when the next MfS course is taking place.
