Twelve trees was commissioned to mark 60 years of Sing for Pleasure and first performed at Summer School 2024. Words by Catriona Downie and music by Katy Lavinia Cooper (O Lux Beata).  A collection of twelve pieces celebrating trees native to the British Isles and drawing inspiration from history, folklore and traditional music.

Composer Information

Katy is a conductor, arranger, composer and singer based in Glasgow. Katy is Director of Chapel Music at the University of Glasgow and also conducts Glasgow Madrigirls and Scottish Opera’s Community Choir. She is Head of marketing, and a tutor for Sing for Pleasure. Katy sings with harmony folk-groups Muldoon’s Picnic and with early music ensemble Sang Scule.
