Frequently Asked Questions about our new Conductor Training Programme
I’m new to SfP – how do I know which course to apply for?
All new conducting participants should start on the Essentials Course, no matter how much experience they have. The course introduces the fundamentals of our ethos and methodology. The course will make use of a variety of music, ensuring it remains relevant to all participants, no matter their experience level. At the end of the course, they will be directed to the level that will best suit their individual learning needs.
I have attended an SfP course before and would like to attend again – how do I know which level to apply for?
Existing participants should have received a recommendation from their tutor at the end of their last course – we keep a record of this, so get in touch if you’ve lost yours. While our new training system does not map exactly on to our old one, we recognise that participants need to know where their recommendation sits. The diagram below will give you an idea of how the new levels roughly map on to the old, but if you’ve any questions, please get in touch and we can advise. Email learning@singforpleasure.org.uk or events@singforpleasure.org.uk.
May I attend the same level more than once?
Absolutely – in fact, this will often be recommended by your tutor in order to consolidate and embed new skills (as was the case in our old system). Our new Level 3 course in particular is designed to be taken multiple times, since the focus of each individual course will be different.
Will we have targets and goals to work towards?
Absolutely – in fact we believe our aims and goals for each Level are clearer and more transparent than ever. There’s more information on each level on the following PDFs…
